DPS Katra conducted a special assembly on the occasion of Gurpurab. Students participated in this assembly through which they celebrated Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Jayanti. This assembly started by lighting of lamp. After lamp lighting a speech was delivered by a student through which all students came to know about why we all celebrate Gurpurab. Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Jayanti, also known as Gurpurab, is the most important festival. It is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The most famous teaching attributed to Guru Nanak Dev Ji is that there is only one God, and that all human beings can have direct access to God with no need of rituals or priests. Colourful program was organized in which students performed dance and sang bhajans praising the glory of the Guru.

Dr Kunwarani Ritu Singh Ji Founder/Trustee MHSSEF (J&K) wished students a very happy Gurpurab and also appreciated them for participating in this program and encourage them to participate in future programmes also. She said that these events create a feeling of love and respect in students. All these prove to be very positive activities for the society because through them we learn to be social and respect each other.

MK Ajatshatru Chairman/Trustee MHSSEF (J&K) also wished Happy Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Jayanti to all the students and valued their participation. He said that such events increase respect for different religions and students start honouring all religions.

Sh. S.S. Sodhi Ji Pro Vice Chairperson, congratulated the students on Gurpurab. He greatly admired the performance of the students in which students displayed Punjabi culture so well.

DPS Katra celebrated this day with great enthusiasm and has always been organizing such events and will do so in future also.
