Awareness Rally on “Celebrating Eco-friendly Diwali – Let’s Go Green”

Delhi Public School, Katra organized an Awareness Rally on the theme “Celebrating Eco-friendly Diwali – Let’s Go Green” to spread the message of celebrating Diwali in a pollution-free and environment-friendly way.
Students participated with great enthusiasm, holding creatively designed placards and chanting impactful slogans such as “Light Lamps, Not Crackers”, “Say No to Crackers”, and “Let’s Celebrate a Green Diwali.”
The rally moved through the surrounding areas of the school, including Fawara Chowk Katra, where the young DPSians effectively conveyed their message to the local community, inspiring everyone to adopt cleaner and safer ways to celebrate.
Following the rally, an Awareness Session was held at the Police Station, Katra campus. SP Katra, Shri Vipan Chandran - JKPS addressed the students and urged them to celebrate Diwali peacefully and responsibly — avoid bursting crackers, keep homes and surroundings clean, plant trees, and help make the environment greener and safer for all. His clear and motivating message left a strong impression on the students.
SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey-JKPS and SHO P/S Katra Inspr. Khyatimaan Khajuria then interacted with the students, explaining police procedures and day-to-day functioning of the station. Alongside this, the SHO conducted a brief, supervised demonstration of police equipment and weapons to familiarize students with safety protocols and the responsible use of such equipment as part of law-enforcement procedures. The demonstration was educational and conducted with full emphasis on safety and civic responsibility.
The esteemed management of DPS Katra, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chairman- MHSSEF (J& K), Sh. M.K. Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Distinguished Founder/Trustee , Kunwarani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji, and Hon’ble PVC Sh. S.S. Sodhi Ji, along with School Incharge/Manager, Ms. Simmi Sharma, and Principal, Ms. Manikarnika Sharma, lauded the students, Dy. Headmistress, Madhu Sharma, Sr. Wing Coordinator, Ms. Meenakshi Koul and staff for organizing this meaningful awareness drive.
They extended heartfelt gratitude to the Police Department, Katra for their invaluable cooperation and for arranging the informative session.
The management emphasized that such initiatives are the need of the hour to inspire students and the broader community to work together for a cleaner, greener and safer environment.
It was indeed a fruitful and enlightening day for the students of DPS Katra — a perfect blend of environmental awareness, civic education and experiential learning.
