“Health Experts Meet Future Scientists: DPS Katra Students Engage with SMVDIME Doctors in an Interactive Session”
To inculcate interest in the subject of science, particularly Biology, and to help students make informed career choices in the field of science, the Department of Anatomy and Physiology at SMVD Institute of Medical Education (SMVDIME) organised an interactive workshop titled “Organ Talk: Time to Take Action” on 28 January 2026. The workshop was attended by students of Delhi Public School (DPS), Katra.
The programme was inaugurated by the Executive Director, Dr. Yash Paul Sharma, who emphasised the importance of scientific temper, health awareness, and early exposure to medical sciences. Several Heads of Departments and faculty members of SMVDIME also graced the occasion.
During the workshop, students were shown human body organs under strictly ethical conditions and were educated about their anatomy and physiology, focusing on the structure and function of various organs. The students were also made aware of the harmful effects of junk food on vital organs and the long-term impact of unhealthy lifestyle choices. The students of DPS,Katra were also blessed for their bright future.
Additionally, the importance of organ donation and its role in saving lives was explained to the students. As a special initiative, 20 representative students were designated as Health Ambassadors of SMVDIME, with the aim of spreading awareness about healthy living and good health practices in society.
The Management of DPS Katra, Sh. M.K. Ajatshatru Ji, Chairman/Trustee MHSSEF (J&K), Dr.
Kuwarani Ritu Singh Ji, Founder/Trustee MHSSEF (J&K), and Sh. S.S. Sodhi Ji, Pro Vice Chairperson, DPS Katra, along with Team DPS Katra, appreciated the initiative and lauded SMVDIME for its efforts in promoting scientific awareness and public health education among students.
The visit proved to be an enriching and motivating experience for the DPS Katra students, strengthening their understanding of biological sciences and inspiring them to consider careers in medical and allied health fields.
